Physician burnout is much more common than most people think. In a recent survey, nine out of ten physicians said they would not recommend medicine to others.
Physician burnout is increasing. By the year 2020, there’s a predicted 90,000 shortage of physicians in the U.S. Other countries are experiencing these changes at a rapid rate too.

Burnout typically is defined by three elements:

  1. Loss of enthusiasm
  2. Feelings of cynicism
  3. Low sense of personal accomplishment
